Start Your EvaluationAbout semaglutide
Semaglutide mimics a naturally occurring hormone involved in appetite regulation and blood sugar control. By acting on this pathway, it may help reduce appetite and support meaningful, sustained changes when paired with nutrition and activity. Any use is prescription only: a licensed clinician reviews your health history, current medications, and goals before deciding whether semaglutide is medically appropriate for you, and any medication is dispensed by a licensed U.S. pharmacy.

The science
What semaglutide is
Semaglutide is a prescription medication originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes and now also approved for weight loss. You've probably heard its brand names: Ozempic (for diabetes) and Wegovy (for weight loss). It's the same active ingredient, just approved and dosed for different purposes. It's usually a once-a-week injection you give yourself with a small pen under the skin, though pill versions also exist.
How it works
Your body naturally makes a hormone called GLP-1 after you eat. It tells your brain you're full and helps control blood sugar. Semaglutide mimics that hormone, but it lasts much longer in your body. That has a few effects:
You feel less hungry.
It acts on the parts of your brain that control appetite, so cravings and “food noise” often drop noticeably.
You feel full sooner and stay full longer.
It slows how quickly your stomach empties, so smaller meals feel satisfying.
It helps regulate blood sugar
by prompting your body to release insulin when it's needed.
The result is that people naturally eat less without feeling like they're constantly fighting hunger.
Clinical results
What it's been shown to do
In major clinical trials, people without diabetes who took Wegovy for about 16 months, along with diet and exercise changes, lost an average of roughly 15% of their body weight. Someone weighing 250 lbs, for example, might lose about 35 to 40 lbs. Results vary a lot from person to person. Studies have also shown it lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with obesity and heart disease.

Is semaglutide right for you?
Only a licensed clinician can determine eligibility. During your online evaluation, you will share your health history, goals, and current medications, and the clinician will consider factors such as your medical conditions, potential interactions, and contraindications. Semaglutide is not appropriate for everyone, and the clinician's decision is final.
Important safety information: GLP-1 medications can cause side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, and are not appropriate for everyone. Tell your clinician about all medical conditions and medications you take. Seek urgent care for severe symptoms. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of compounded drugs.
